Building Design Choices You Can Make Now

We often expect to hear about technical consulting firms, without really knowing what role these consulting firms play in the field of construction. Who is the missionary? Is it necessary to use them as part of a house construction or home improvement project? Let's discover in a few lines the technical design offices.

What Do Engineering Offices Do?

These are public or private companies made up of engineers and technicians whose job is to provide construction services in the building sector. The technical design offices can operate alone, as part of a mission entrusted to them by a client, or as a team in the case of a public contract: they are then members of a management team and work with other actors such as architects, economists. The Building designer is the best person there.

This is a design work complementary to that of the architect. The design office produces very precise calculation and drafting notes to refine the architect's choices, drawings and intuitions. He starts his work on the basis of that of the architect and carries out studies based on assumptions often established by the latter.

For example, when an architect imagines his project in metal structure, he will draw at first:

·       A system of columns and beams,

·       With dimensions that seem to him structurally coherent,

·       And according to what he wishes to obtain as aesthetic for the building.

In a second phase, the architect sends his drawings to the design office Structure. This one will calculate the exact dimensions of the beams with specialized software according to the loads that they have to support:

·       Weight of the roof,

·       Carpentry,

·       Lateral force related to the wind,

·       Hypothetical weight of the snow, etc.

If the height given by the technical design office is not suitable for the architect for aesthetic reasons for example, an exchange is set up between the two trades until finding the most suitable solution to the project. The Building designers are the perfect bit there.
